about

I recorded this prior to scary shapes- by a week or two.

This song reminds Lou Reed.

I used to sneak into shows a lot as a teen in Tacoma/Seattle. Steve Ross ( Steve E Nixs) was a big cap'n of the sneak into shows collective because either didn't have tickets , show was too expensive or had to be 21 to get in the door. often the front door was the best option either with a ticket from another long passed show ( some how we have a big stack of ticket master tickets-maybe Gibby Hayes had given some tacoma punk post a show). I believe this portion of the game ended with a misadventure on the rail yard of Seattle attempting to find a back door into the union station to see Nirvana, it was dangerous and scary and I recall seeing a red light reflection of kris novoselic in his south sound bass giant stance via the giant station windows and thinking " this is never gonna work"

years Later in the Seaweed opening for big band era ,I often attempted to sneak into those shows just for practice of the art. Of course when you have pass as a back up plan, your only playing.

Then I moved to Mendocino and game over.

Until I happen to be in Boulder Colorado staying next door to a Lou Reed show that was sold out. So I dusted off the Art and into the front door I went mid-show; no ticket and a very nice shirt. this was 2005 and Lou was touring with a Velvet Underground esq band including Anohni singing Nicos parts in the VU songs. It was an amazing experience and the final event in the sneaking into shows episodes of my life time. I hope you enjoy the song and the story

lyrics

everything broken all of the time-piece it together- duct tape and twine. here's the receipt for the conversation. what you were saying

script the words before they hatch-hands gripped upon the match- the ones want will be OK- can't believe a word they say

direction outside of breath of fresh air- constantly crooked to prove you were there -inscribing your name on the rock of the face- constantly crooked- here's the receipt for all you have said- what you were saying

press you lips into the napkin- wooden matches you unwrap them- cast iron gate you unlatch them
