I can only think of Mark E . Smith when I hear the middle part of this song. He is one of my favorite punk rock heroes. Ever since I heard the Cruisers Creek/ LA 7' inch single that my pal mark purchased at Tower Records when we 15. No one was like Mark E. Smith. Undefinable. I remember seeing that The Fall were playing in San Fransisco when I first when on tour with Calvin and Tobi ( I was 16) and thinking- I will never get to see The Fall- they will be broke up by the time I'm 21. How overjoyed I was when seaweed was booked to play the side stage of a large room in the depths of Germany where The Fall was the headliner of the larger venue
when we finish our soundcheck; there is Simon and Craig, watching us, drinking pints and avail for fanboy chatting. No Mark E. Smith. "you won't see him but on stage". the set was fantastic. I love that early 90's late night disco era Fall; and it turned out I did see him as I was going back into the club, at then end of night and Mark E. Smith was being ushered out. He looked dark and twisty; sweating. True to form.
I would like to pour one out for Mark E. Smith- I imagine him drinking Gin.

Of course this song is not about Smith or the Fall; more about work, hours spent there and near complete loss of control. Over the falls in surfing is when you don't make the drop and are deposited ,generally headlong into the mess..

I hope when you finish listeing to this track, you will flip to record over and listen to the A side "over the falls"
